Paul Castronovo is an experienced trial attorney focusing on employee rights. His peers have chosen him for the 2006 through 2017 New Jersey Super Lawyers® lists for employment law. As a trial lawyer, Paul has won more than $10.4 million in jury verdicts and judgments for his clients, including one of the largest multi-million dollar verdicts in 2014 for a claim of maternity leave retaliation. He has argued twice before the Supreme Court of New Jersey on landmark whistleblower (Hitesman v. Bridgeway, Inc.) and sexual harassment (Aguas v. State of New Jersey) cases. In a written opinion, the New Jersey Appellate Division praised Paul’s written and oral advocacy as “masterful.” Earlier in his career, the New Jersey Law Journal reported that Paul was the first lawyer in New Jersey to use state law to win a jury verdict against the mortgage industry for unconscionable business practices. After a successful trial, a Superior Court of New Jersey judge praised Castronovo & McKinney and Paul Castronovo: “Plaintiff’s counsel is experienced and able and holds a reputation as among the best plaintiff’s employment lawyers and law firm.”
After graduating from law school, Paul studied litigation and trials while serving as a law clerk for Judge Helen E. Hoens (later a member of the Supreme Court of New Jersey). Upon entering private practice, Paul began his law firm career with two large defense firms representing Fortune 500 companies, government entities, and closely held businesses. He practices in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and New York.
In addition to his bar association activities, he has served as a member of the Planning Board, the Upper Raritan Watershed Association, the Board of Health, and as a Little League coach. Paul graduated from Rutgers Law School where he received awards for best oral advocate and highest score for knowledge of civil procedure. When not practicing law, Paul is a devoted Mets fan.
